ISR Lessons

ISR lessons are entirely customized to an age & skill appropriate level. These lessons are designed for kids as young as 6-months, for young children with special needs and kids up to 6-years old who may not be ready for traditional swimming lessons.
Lessons are held Monday through Friday for a maximum of 10 minutes per lesson for 6-8 weeks. All lessons are one-on-one. Your child’s lesson time is the same time for every lesson in the session.

I understand that this commitment is a big one! I remember thinking the same things you're probably thinking: "How on Earth am I going to commit to at least 6 weeks of daily 10-minute lessons? I have to give up nap times, adjust our routines, and drive so far every day. Please trust me, as a mom and an instructor, that IT IS WORTH IT because our children are WORTH IT!!

What your child will learn

Your child will learn the skill set appropriate for his or her age and development, but minimally your child will learn to roll onto his or her back to float, rest, and breathe, and to maintain this position until help arrives.

Children 6-12 Months Old

Children ages 6 months to 1 year learn the ISR Self-Rescue® skill of rolling onto their backs to float, rest and breathe. They learn to maintain this position until help arrives.

Children 1-6 Years Old

Older, more mobile children will learn the full ISR Self-Rescue® sequence of swimming until they need air, rotating onto the back to float, then rolling back over to continue swimming. ISR students are taught to repeat this sequence until they reach the safety of the steps, side of the pool, or the shoreline.

ISR Skill Sets

Rollback-to-Float
The rollback to float teaches your baby how to independently turn to their back, breath, rest and maintain the float until help arrives. This skill set is for infants to early walkers.
Swim-Float-Stay
With this sequence, your child will learn to swim with their head down before rolling to their back to float. This skill set is for early walkers.
Swim-Float-Swim
During these lessons, your child will learn how to swim, rollback to float, and turn to swim and start the sequence again. This skill set is for children over 1-year old and solid walkers.

My child completed ISR Self-Rescue®. What's next?

Once your child has completed a session of ISR lessons, your instructor will recommend either Refresher or Maintenance lessons to allow for skill practice that matches your child’s growth.
Refreshers
Held about six months after the last session, these lessons are a condensed version of the initial session*. The length of refresher lessons depends on which skills your child learned in the previous session, as well as how much time has passed.

Maintenance
These lessons, based on availability, are held less frequently than refresher lessons and help students maintain their skills and confidence. Ideally, these should be scheduled at instructor recommended intervals, and often range from once or twice a week to once a month.

Superior Training does not assist with scheduling for ISR lessons as the instructors maintain their own schedules. Please direct all scheduling questions to the appropriate instructor.
